#sdudla on the move

Every month I get together with a selected few individuals under the banner of SHARING OUR STORIES. Everyone tends to hide behind their mask in real life and learns to survive inspite of the very thorn that is in their flesh.

The past weekend, we exposed the thorn and indeed by grace, got a chance to laugh our heads off, at all that lies beneath our skin. Flabby arms, thunder thighs, pot belly's, love handles and all. We removed the thorn and embraced ourselves, as we are...with a little help from our friend: Derrick Mhlongo of (http://www.iindonimodels.com/).

During Sharing our Stories get togethers we share about anything and everything, really. We turn our backs on embarrasment and put our valaptuos butts on the shame and just open our hearts and minds to share our stories. We believe, well I and those that I share with, believe that sharing our stories enables us to learn from our experiences and in so doing pave a way for a better future.

For the month of February: we got together about good old love and valentines, or the lack of love for some of my friends, but nonetheless we found a reason to celebrate and got some yummy guys to bless us with their music. A round of applause to South African trio: Afro Soul and local poet: Sboh Da Poet.  Those pics can be seen on www.facebook.com/ZarlingZookey.

The past weekend I hosted a #sdudlaonthemove gathering. This is for all the fatabulous Zarlings (listeners of my weekly radio show) . Five is the number of grace and I don't doubt that new friendships were made and self confidence re-built!

The infamous Derrick Mhlongo *round of applause*

Thank you very much to The Benjamin Hotel for hosting us and so many more SHARING OUR STORIES gatherings coming up. Next month we look at touching ourselves. Ooh stop blushing now, its not as if you dont. And that will be in celebrating all those who have survived breast cancer and in thought of those who are diagnosed with breast cancer. I personally will be assisting (http://www.cansa.org.za/) with the Durban leg of the Relay for LIFE which is a 12hour relay at the Moses Mabhidha Stadium. Any company or group can get together by paying R70.00 per person or R1500.00 a group. R1500.00 will allow each group to get a gazebo with chairs and a table, arranged by CANSA (Cancer assosciation of South Africa). You can sell your products in the gazebo, yes-yes, enterprise is good for our economy or you can take a stretch in the gazebo whilst the rest of your group continue relaying around the track. The idea of relaying is to: NEVER GIVE UP. No matter the pain, NEVER GIVE UP!  Theme names, colours and all sorts of dress codes are allowed. I would love you to join my group. Only myself are in the group for now, haha! But, I will love and leave you between 12midnight - 1am, no, I dont get on a broom for goodness sake, get your mind out the gutter. I will hop onto the stage to strengthen all the fable knees and weak souls in the stadium, and why not welcome Fools day? I love April fools. So do know that I will have my fun on that day. The Relay for life is on the 31st of March - 1st April 2012 from six-six.

My funny bone does get the better of me and I will let no monkey in no zoo stop me from laughing and smiling. That serious look does not do justice to my aging self, so please bare with me. #midlifecrisisdoesnotknock
if you ever find yourself in KZN and in Durban, come join the playground fun and lets SHARE our STORIES. drop me an email will ya? zookey@mankwali.com.

praises to a heartfelt friend: NIH

Memories of a Beginning

The date is unknown
The time only the heavens would dare to remember
A connection, not even the heart could or would want to recognize
But one which the soul surely smile at.

A memory that causes the head to bow and words to be concluded
by: " Bless her Lord Amen" , are whispered through lips of a believer
to a God that never sleeps nor slumbers

The day and time of the meeting of these two souls
is a memory which  is like a rainbow in a distant past
that shines like a sun through the clouds with visions of
festivals, home gatherings, house parties, and so on

The meeting of the two souls was like a gift
well boxed with endless realms of soft designer paper
wrapped around in ribbons of love
and well set in the time and space only known and understood
by love

The day and time I met you
I do not remember
The day and time
will never be important
It is that little heart of mine
that you touched
that will forever remember you

I ask this little heart of mine, what it remembers and it says to me,
ever so gently:
its how she always runs to pose next to you, when you taking a photo
Really?
I ask it
then my heart smiles back, almost the same way you smile, and then it laughs and smiles
at the same time,
Just the same way you do...and I see why my heart loves you so.

I ask it again...remind me oh heart of mine
hidden in-between my now almost flabby breasts?
Why do you smile when you think of her?
She loves you, it says to me
Aaah, I  remind my heart
Love, love dear heart is a word, I don't play around with much
That is why you hardly tell her, it says.
You rarely tell the people you love the most and are quick to tell the ones you don't love
how you love them so, another of your famous acts of faith.
Shut up, you heart of mine,
I demand

Lets continue, I say, how do you know I love her?
it's her caring ways it tell's me
The way she always invites you to her do's
The way she'll contact you sometimes, when you are overseas on work travels, and remind you of how Durban is your hearts desire
The way she'll ignore you on facebook but rock up in your real world
that's
why I know
and the way, she came to see you as you walked out your momma's coffin and told you : "you don't have to be strong"
That, my dear friend, say's my heart to me...was your mothers gift to you:
A friend so real
A friend so rare
A friend so sensitive
A fried so true

Thank you for being my friend, Nih
Zoom: 7th February 2011

Sometimes

Sometimes saying I love you
Is just words
Words that need to be fueled
Fueled with emotions
Fueled with actions
Fueled with success
Yes when challenges are met
Anxiety & stress become
Joy
Overcoming
Fulfillment
And honour
That’s when I love you

Sometimes hugging & cuddling me
Is not enough
Sometimes touching me
Feels like sandpaper rubbing against
My delicate sensitive
Self.

Sometimes it’s the silence
It’s the breathing
You breathing next to me
My breathing whistling against your skin
Is the music that best suits me,
Just sometimes.

Sometime I want you to explain to me
How I make you feel
Sometimes I wish your poetic looks
Could be said or heard in words
Just sometimes.

Sometimes I wanna wake up and take a photo of you
Sleeping
Sometimes I wanna capture your expression dancing against the pillow
Sometimes I want to capture the real you
In the dark, but so alive, so delightful to watch,
It lights up my soul
Sometimes.

Sometimes I want to cry
But sometimes all I am going through is so much
So scary, so so,
So, so
Yes so unexplainable
So much like the heavy breath I have just breathed
Sometimes I want you to wash away everything
But sometimes I have to remember you are no God,
You are just my angel for the journey.

Never ask: BUT WHY?

Hi, my name should have been Virgin-near (Pronounced Virginia),
mother of Marry-her (pronounced Maria)
I have a stranger living inside of me
Who are u, lifeless girl, Living inside of this temple?
 Get out! Get a life!
I never knew you
Single
Desperate
Woman
Your purity has made you single
And look?
Who’s that in your eyes?
Is that Desperate peeping out your very eyes?
Close those lids and look again.
Good girl
Now I can see through your soul
Aah all you want is a man ?
Okay my baby, sit down, right here
And wait.
No, stop throwing your toys out the court.
Let’s pick them up and put them back in.
Screaming?
Aah baby I would tell you to stop but if that makes you feel better
I won’t ask you but why?
But maybe the neighbors’ will the next time you step out.
Throwing yourself on the carpet are you?
 Careful. The carpet does burn.
 Aah thought as much.
Here is a plaster.
I won’t ask you why but I am sure your friends at college will.
The face is a horrible place to have a plaster on it.
Good girl.
Sit down and write in your journal.
Goodnight sweetheart.
Don’t forget to say the Lord ’s Prayer.
Yes you can ask Him but Why?
He is not like me,
He won’t tell you that Y is a crooked letter and you can’t make it straight.
Let ur pretty little feet lead you to the answer.

The world is watching.

Half Asleep, I am half awake

Alarm goes off
Nothing to look forward to
Same old same old
Half asleep, I dare not sink into a state of deep sleep
The Day calls
Important issues await
Half awake I bejewel myself
To attend to important matters
with people who style a haters cologne.
Shame for them
Inflicting ‘bring-her and him down syndromes’ on others
Projecting their horrible pasts and presents on the likes of me who could not be bothered in their interests
You look like a nightmare
You smell like inferiority complex
You laugh like fear
Your eyes are the colour of lust
Your speech sounds like death
You need Jesus
And so do I
Get ye behind me Satan!
I am not asleep
I am awake
I see what you are up to
Half asleep or half awake
I see through you
And your wicked ways
I have not time to make them straight
You will however have no choice but to make straight and do right
Watch me.
I am climbing another step, of another ladder.  You never put me on any level
What makes you think you can pull me down?
Oh you of little muscle.
Take a hike.
Make way.
My purpose and their purpose are two separate highways. Not related
My joy remains the better fragrance
Shame for them

My dream will be served soon

Hot on a platter
